MAOF is excited to announce the rollout of a Nutrition and Physical Activity initiative across its Los Angeles County early education and child care centers. Funded by First 5 L.A. and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, the Nutrition and Physical Activity workshops are designed to improve the nutrition and physical activity environment in child care settings and to promote healthy habits among Los Angeles children, parents and child care providers. With the support of this funding, parents and child care providers will receive the necessary tools to transition into a healthier and more active lifestyle. The Nutrition and Physical Activity program consists of free workshops for child care providers from all types of settings (centers, family child care homes, license-exempt), events for parents and children, and information and tools for all. Other participating agencies in Los Angeles County include Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, Child Care Resource Center, City of Norwalk, Connections for Children, Crystal Stairs, Drew Child Development, International Institute of Los Angeles, Options, Pathways, and Pomona Unified School District. For more information about this program or to register for upcoming workshops, please contact the MAOF Resource & Referral Office at (323) 890-1555.
