Case Specialist- (Part-time) 

General Purpose:

To create program activities that address the developmental needs of children by providing appropriate learning experiences, goals, and objectives to all contractual commitments to the California Department of Education and the Child Development Division.

Requirements:

  • 24+ units in Early Childhood Development .
  • Capability of participating in field assessments, training’s, evaluating, analyzing and identifying areas needing improvement.
  • Valid California Driver License and proper automobile insurance.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Spanish.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).

Responsibilities:

  • Must identify family needs and refer to appropriate outer agencies within the community. Must have the ability to follow up on all cases to ensure that all family needs are met.
  • Review materials and resources that will strengthen the Infant & Toddler program and contribute to meeting the requirements of the program quality review of the California Department of Education and the Child Development Division.
  • Insures curricula activities for appropriate cognitive, physical, nutritional and health education and provide training to achieve results.
  • Ensure to follow all procedures for certifying and enrolling children in the Infant & Toddler program which are in accordance with regulations set by the California Department of Education and the Child Development Division.

Office Clerk- Full-time (Temporary) 

General Purpose:

Under the direction of the Program Assistant is responsible with assisting with tax returns, surveys, intake, and follow up of clients during the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred college units or enrollment in degree program.
  • Computer knowledge, Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability to work flexible days and hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Good public presentation skills/customer service skills.
  • Ability to write clear outreach/informational materials.
  • Knowledge of surrounding communities in East Los Angeles area preferred, but not required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance and automobile.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English).

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and produce outreach flyers and other written materials for programs.
  • Assisting in Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
  • Conduct assessment and follow up services by phone to clients.
  • Plan and conduct orientation meetings, trainings, workshops, and other outreach/informational events for child care providers, schools, and community based agencies, and other public venues.
  • Assist Program Supervisor with any special tasks or events, including, but not limited to, workshops, special mailings, publications, media events etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Home Visitor (9 Month Position) 

General Purpose:

A staff person who works with the parents and children within the family home environment. Works on a one to one basis with the primary caregiver of the child.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • AA in a subject matter related to Early Childhood Education.
  • A California Child Development Teacher Permit.
  • Minimum of 2 years paid experience working with preschool children ages 3-5.
  • Must possess a vehicle and have a valid California Driver’s License and current Car Insurance.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide children with a learning environment, which will help them, develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development. Provide pre-school education in home of 12 families.
  • To integrate the educational aspects of the various Head Start components into the Home Base Curriculum.
  • Provide socialization experience for families twice a month.
  • Involve parents in the educational activities of the program.
  • To increase parents knowledge, understanding, skills and experiences in child growth and development.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Case Specialist APP/CalWORKs Department 

General Purpose:

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Case Specialist is responsible to certify the eligibility of CalWORKs Alternative Payment participants.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Strong organizational, analytic and administrative skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
  • Experience working with child care providers and CalWORKs participants receiving subsidized child care assistance.
  • Working knowledge of existing LA County welfare system preferred.
  • Valid California Driver License and proper automobile insurance.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) required

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all assigned cases are maintained up to date and are re-certified in compliance with contracts Funding Terms & Conditions and agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an ongoing appointment book to ensure that the appointment is given sufficient time to complete the purpose of visit by the participant.
  • Obtain, read and understand program Funding Terms & Conditions, program philosophy, the personnel handbook, parent and provider handbooks and any other job related material covering all aspects of the Alternative Payment Program.
  • Assist the Program Liaison Unit to resolve provider and parent complaints.
  • Print and mail out all assigned caseload attendance logs to the child care provider prior to the beginning of the month.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Floater Homemaker—Part Time  

General Purpose:

To plan and prepare meals for the children, as stated in the Child Care/Pre-school nutrition guidelines.

  • Retrieves, washes, and disinfects dishes, utensils, and other items used in serving and preparing food.
  • Keeps kitchen in a clean and sanitary condition.
  • Attends staff meetings as assigned.
  • Attends child care classes or seminars conducted at MAOF or elsewhere as assigned and necessary to have effective nutrition activities and career advancement.
  • Performs other light housekeeping as required.
  • Assists in classroom activities as assigned by Center Supervisor

Teacher Assistant- (Temporary) 

General Purpose:

To assist in the instruction and care of the children and to provide for adequate adult supervision of children.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) units in Early Childhood Development.
  • Minimum of 1 year paid experience working with pre-school children.
  • Must pass pre-employment Health Screening.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists teacher in the implementation of safety rules and supervises the children’s activities in order to insure their safety.
  • Helps develop the social learning and physical skills of the children.
  • Assists in conducting individual and small and large group activities.
  • Assists in implementing the programs curriculum, philosophy, policies and regulations.
  • Attends staff meetings, conferences, workshops, in-service training, and parents meetings as assigned.

Documentation Specialist 

General Purpose:

To insure that necessary supportive service documentation is maintained in each child’s file in an orderly, correct and complete manner; and to aide in the provision of social services necessary to permit parents and children to benefit from and to be able to continue participation in the child care program.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of (1) year completed college related courses.
  • 6 units in ECE/CD.
  • Knowledgeable in Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess own vehicle, valid California Driver’s License and current auto insurance.
  • Knowledgeable in Word and Excel.

Responsibilities:

  • Meets with parents of children enrolling in the program and completes the necessary supportive services.
  • Assists in the set-up and/or sets up resource files. Assists in the developments of or develops counseling, health, legal, economic and social resources.
  • Assists in the parent education program including notifying parents of available services through MAOF and through the community at large.
  • Determines reasons for unreported and excessive absences including placing daily calls to the homes of absent children and when necessary conduct home visits.

Facilities Manager 

General Purpose:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the coordination of maintenance projects of all facilities operated by MAOF. The Facilities Manager is also responsible for the coordination and follow-up of schedule and emergency maintenance and repair needs of agency vehicles.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in planning, engineering, business administration or a closely related field;
  • Minimum two (2) years of progressively more responsible management experience;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in coordination of maintenance, repair and operations of complex building or plant facilities;
  • Strong oral, written and organizational skills
  • Computer literate;
  • Knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act;
  • Regular work hours, Monday thru Friday; to include some weekends;
  • Must possess own vehicle at all times, a valid California Driver’s License and appropriate automobile insurance;
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) required;

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper administration of construction contracts and is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses;
  • Directly supervise maintenance supervisor;
  • Coordinate activities of agency maintenance staff;
  • Inspect complete work to assure conformance to standards;
  • Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of project following a logical pattern for utilization of resources;
  • Coordinate equipment repairs and replacement within federal, state and agency guidelines;
  • Emergency preparedness response duties;
  • Assist with the implementation of facility security, including key control;
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of all agency vehicles;
  • Survey new areas for possible sites;
  • Work/negotiate with realtors, contractors, architects, city and county personnel;
