MAOF Head Start/ State Preschool provides services to 1001 families from the cities of Huntington Park, South Gate, Vernon, Walnut Park, and the Florence area of Los Angeles.

Program Philosophy
We believe that children are our greatest national resource and they have the right to develop to their fullest potential. We believe that parents are the primary teachers of their children. We believe that we can make a greater impact on a child's life when we empower the family.

Program Goals
To educate in all areas of the child's growth and development. To empower families and help them develop a healthy inter-reliance with their communities.

Comprehensive Child Development Program
A comprehensive child development program enhances opportunities for the child to become a healthy and happy learner in partnership with parents. Comprehensive services are provided through the following components: Parent Involvement, Health, Nutrition, Education, Social Services, Mental Health, and Disabilities.

Delivery of Services
The program offers two options in working with families. The Center Based Program operates two sessions, one in the mornings and one in the afternoon. One center in the city of South Gate provides full day services to families that are working or going to school. Classes are offered Monday through Friday. The Home Based Program is geared to working with parents in their home, reinforcing the parents role as the primary educator of the child. Families also attend group socializations twice a month. The goal is for the child to develop social, emotional, and intellectual skills during these small group activities.
