MAOF Wins Latino Advocacy Award at 5th Annual Latino Business Awards

MAOF was honored with the Latino Advocacy Award by the Los Angeles Business Journal and the Latino Business Association on January 21 during a luncheon at the Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Selected from among 44 finalists, MAOF was one of eight awardees, and the only nonprofit organization to be recognized at the ceremony. President & CEO Martin Castro was on hand to receive the award from LABJ Publisher & CEO Matthew Toledo and California Bank & Trust Executive Vice President Dr. Betty Uribe. Members of the MAOF Board of Directors were also in attendance including Chairman Carlos J. Viramontes.

In a brief acceptance speech, Castro thanked the LABJ, LBA, and the many supporters and employees that have contributed to MAOF’s legacy over the past 50 years. Now in its 5th year, the LABJ Latino Business Awards recognize Latino-owned businesses and Latino-serving organizations who are making an economic or social impact in the Greater Los Angeles area. More than 300,000 businesses in Los Angeles County are Latino-owned.

MAOF and its fellow honorees were be featured in a special section of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s January 27th edition.
