Los Angeles, CA: NBCUniversal has awarded the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation a $50,000 grant to expand its Asset Building Program in Los Angeles County. MAOF’s Asset Building Program targets low-to moderate income families with a myriad of financial services designed to promote banking of the unbanked community, opening savings accounts, individual and group financial coaching, developing and maintaining good credit, and income tax assistance.
Martin Castro, MAOF President & CEO, stated “We are most appreciative to NBCUniversal for selecting MAOF as one of the 21st Century Solutions winners. This grant will allow us to expand our Asset Building services to 300 additional low to moderate income Latino families who will learn basic financial literacy, how to begin saving, and establish good credit. The grant will go a long way in empowering our Latino community to become self-sufficient and achieve the American Dream”.
