Teacher Assistant, CC/PS Ontario ELC (San Bernardino County)

(Full Time)

$11.02 per hour.

Job Summary
To assist in the instruction and care of the children and to provide for adequate adult supervision of children. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant Assist in developing the social learning and physical skills of the children. Is required to assist the Teacher with the implementation of safety rules and supervise the children’s activities in order to insure their safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) units in child development or early childhood education.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience working in a pre-school/child care setting.
  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written
  • Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups of people including low-income families.
  • Sensitive to others needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Sincere commitment to providing services to children and the community.
  • Ability to assess and respond quickly to varied situations.

Special Qualifications

  • Must meet State health requirements and must pass pre-employment Health Screening, T.B. Test and Drug Screening
  • Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis and measles at the time of employment, annual requirement thereafter.
  • Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Department of justice (DOJ). Fingerprints clearance must be active and on file with the DOJ.
  • Mandatory First Aid and CPR certificate, responsible to maintain, to be renewed every year.

Responsible for the classroom operation including, planning, curriculum, and child assessment implementation, and supervision of children. Will strive to implement a quality program and to promote the positive physical, mental, emotional, and social development of the child in a pleasant and rewarding learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 6 units in Early Childhood Education, high school diploma or GED.
  • At a minimum, must possess a valid Associate Teacher Permit from the CA Commission of Teacher Credential. If do not currently have an Associate Teacher’s permit, will be placed on a professional education plan to pursue one within a year.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience working in a pre-school/child care setting.
  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written
  • Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others.

Teacher I or Teacher II, HS/EHS (LA County)

Job Summary
A staff person who provides planned opportunities for children in activities designed to promote social, physical and cognitive growth and development. Responsible to plan individual and group activities that are designed to promote each child’s individual strengths as a result of ongoing assessments and observations. Incorporates parent’s goals for their child into the daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 24 units in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development. An AA degree in Early
  • Childhood Education and/or Child Development. If do not currently have a BA, will be placed on a professional staff development plan and required to continuously complete courses towards degree. Must follow educational plan.

  • A California Child Development Teacher Permit, or higher, from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing required. May not be waived.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years paid experience working with children 0-5 required. Experience working with Infant/toddlers is highly desirable.
  • Six (6 )infant/toddler units are highly preferred. If do not currently have, will be required to complete within 1 year of employment.
