Montebello, CA: The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation will hold its Annual Aztec Awards Gala on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The evening begins with a Reception at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 pm and the awards ceremony at 8:30 pm. Entertainment will be provided by Mariachi Opera Sola International. Honorees include Anthony Rendon, Speaker of the California Assembly, Dr. David Hayes-Bautista of UCLA School of Medicine, legendary International Artist Jorge Rivero and Starbucks Coffee Company. NBC4 News Anchor Daniella Guzman will be the Master of Ceremonies.
MAOF is one of the largest Latino non-profit organizations in the Nation and has been providing services in California since 1963. Core programs include Early Education for children of low-to-moderate working parents, child care subsidies for public assistance recipients on the road to self- sufficiency, senior services and a variety of other community services. These individuals exemplify the mission of MAOF and founder Dr. Dionicio Morales to provide for the socio economic betterment of the greater Hispanic community of California, while preserving the pride, values and heritage of the Mexican American culture.
Awards Gala Tradition
Since 1963, MAOF founder Dr. Dionicio Morales began the tradition of identifying individuals who have embraced MAOF’s vision and values and believed that it was important to recognize individuals that have made significant selfless contributions in the advancement of the Hispanic community’s at its Annual Aztec Awards Gala. Fifty three years later, MAOF continues the tradition to honor four distinguished individuals whom have made tremendous achievements and contributions in the advancement of the Hispanic community.
For the last 11 years, Citi Bank has promoted “Global Community Day” as a day whereby bank employees volunteer their time, skills, and expertise to make a difference in the cities they are located.
