Job Summary
The FSA (Family Service Associate) links families with services that are needed; Supports family independence and competency, allowing them the choice of participation and decision making; Enroll and recruit families is an essential; Clerical work required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Associate Degree in social work or related field or Family Development Credential;
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience working with low-income families is required;
  • Experience in a pre-school environment is preferred;
  • Must be computer literate in office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc);
  • Accuracy of spelling English language usage and arithmetical computations.

Special Qualifications

  • Must meet State health requirements including passing a physical examination as a condition of employment, and must provide verification of a TB clearance at the time of employment.
  • Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Justice Department. Fingerprints clearance must be active and on file with the Justice Department.
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
  • Educational transcripts are required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) required.

Job Summary
To assist in the instruction and care of the children and to provide for adequate adult supervision of children. Under the supervision of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant Assist will assist in developing the social learning and physical skills of the children. Is required to assist the Teacher with the implementation of safety rules and supervise the children’s activities in order to insure their safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) units in child development or early childhood education.
  • Three (3) Infant and Toddler units are preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience working in a pre-school/child care setting.
  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written
  • Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups of people including low-income families.
    Sensitive to others needs.

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Sincere commitment to providing services to children and the community.
  • Ability to assess and respond quickly to varied situations.

Special Qualifications

  • Must meet State health requirements: Must submit to a pre-employment physical examination and Tuberculosis (TB) clearance at the time of employment, to be renewed every four years.
  • Must submit to a flu vaccine once a year.
  • Must provide vaccination records for influenza, pertussis and measles, at the time of employment.
  • Criminal Records (e.g. Livescan Fingerprinting), Child Abuse Index, Sexual Offender Registry. Must be finger printed and cleared through the Justice Department. Fingerprints clearance must be active and on file with the Justice Department.
  • Must be 18 years of age to apply.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.

Aztec Awards 2017

Los Angeles, CA:  The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation held its 50th Annual Aztec Awards Gala Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.  Four Hundred guests, including elected officials, civic and corporate leaders were in attendance to support the work of the Foundation and pay homage to our award recipients.

Awardees included Esteban Torres, Dr. Jane Delgado, Ph. D. and Adriana M. Medina.  These award recipients epitomize the Foundation’s objectives in contributing to the success of Californians, including children and families, our youth and senior citizens.

“Funds raised from this event will supplement funding for all our programs, said MAOF President & CEO Martin Castro.  “We owe a big thank you to all the sponsors and other contributors for making this night possible.”

Section 8 Waitlist Lottery Now Open

Screen Shot 2017-10-18 at 12.40.51 PMThe Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) has just opened its Section 8 Waiting List for the first time in more than 13 years. Interested families must apply for a lottery that will determine placement on the new Waiting List.

To enroll in the lottery for the Waiting List opening, families will be able to apply online 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, from now until 5 p.m., October 29, 2017, utilizing their smartphone, mobile device or computer with internet access.
