Author Randy Jurado Ertll will be at MAOF Headquarters in Montebello on Thursday, September 26th at 5:30 p.m. for a public book reading, discussion, and signing.
Mr. Jurado Ertll’s new book, The Life of An Activist: In The Frontlines 24/7, is a non-fiction narrative that describes key steps to becoming an effective activist and community leader. The book describes social movements and provides useful advice on how to successfully manage non-profit organizations in order to achieve positive social change that truly impacts lives. Local nonprofit organizations and leaders including MAOF, MAOF Founder Dionicio Morales, and MAOF President & CEO Martin Castro are profiled in The Life of an Activist. A lifelong activist, Mr. Jurado Ertll was born in the United States but was deported to El Salvador with his mother when he was eight months old. He spent his childhood in El Salvador but moved back to the United States, growing up in South Central Los Angeles during the late 1970s and 1980s.
Randy Jurado Ertll is the executive director of El Centro de Acción Social in Pasadena, California. He has worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., published numerous opinion columns in newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, La Opinión, and the Houston Chronicle, and has been interviewed by networks such as NPR, CNN, PBS, Univisión, and Telemundo. He is an alumnus of Occidental College and obtained his master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University.
Light refreshments will be served. Copies of The Life of an Activist will be available at the signing for $50. Other titles by Mr. Jurado Ertll will be available for $20.
