The Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) will be awarding renowned community and corporate leaders at its 2016 Annual Aztec Awards Gala for their exemplary achievement and contribution in the advancement of the Hispanic communities. These individuals exemplify the mission of MAOF and founder Dr. Dionicio Morales to provide for the socio economic betterment of the greater Hispanic community of California, while preserving the pride, values and heritage of the Mexican American culture.
Awards Gala Tradition
Since 1963, MAOF founder Dr. Dionicio Morales began the tradition of identifying individuals who have embraced MAOF’s vision and values and believed that it was important to recognize individuals that have made significant selfless contributions in the advancement of the Hispanic community’s at its Annual Aztec Awards Gala. Fifty three years later, MAOF continues the tradition to honor four distinguished individuals whom have made tremendous achievements and contributions in the advancement of the Hispanic community.
On Friday, October 7th, MAOF will be recognizing the following awardees for the positive contributions to the Hispanic community: 70th Speaker of the California State Assembly, Anthony Rendon with the Community Aztec Award, UCLA Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture, David E. Hayes-Bautista, Ph.D. with the Lifetime Achievement Aztec Award, International Actor, Jorge Rivero with the Media Aztec Award, and Starbucks Coffee Company with the Corporate Aztec Award.
